instructional goal
Given the use of various strategies and instructional tools including Adobe Flash, the 6th grade Integrated co teaching class including students with various learning abilities such as: General Education, English language Learners, and students with Learning disabilities, will be able to create a profile of the elements of a hurricane and construct a virtual model of the formation and motion path of that hurricane as measured by a teacher created rubric based on 6th grade common core science standards.
instructional objectives
- Students will be able to define and identify the 4 major components of a hurricane. (eye, rain bands, wind, rotation)
- Students will be able to identify the elements necessary for hurricane formation.
- Students will be able to apply their knowledge of convection currents to illustrate the elements necessary for hurricane formation.
- Students will be able to appraise the role of air masses on the movement and motion path of a hurricane.
- Students will be able to compare and contrast the projected motion path of Hurricane Sandy to the actual motion path and evaluate the effect of air masses on the motion path of a hurricane.
- Students will be able to create a virtual path of a hurricane.
