Lesson 5.1Hurricane Sandy's Projected Path
Teaching Point: Students will apply their knowledge of air masses and will be able to analyze the projected path of a hurricane. Activity: The students will analyze the projected paths of hurricane sandy and will be able to determine the possible placement of air masses based on the hurricanes projected path. Assessment: Students will be assessed on the accuracy and depth of their analysis of the project paths. |
Lesson 5.1Hurricane Sandy's Projected Path vs. Actual Path
Teaching Point: Students will be able to compare and contrast the projected motion path of Hurricane Sandy to the actual motion path and evaluate the effect of air masses on the motion path of a hurricane Activity: The students will analyze and make observations of the actual path of Hurricane Sandy. The will then analyze the projected path and the actual path side by side. Students will answer analysis questions and will determine that it was the placement of the air masses that changed the project path of Hurricane Sandy. Assessment: Students will be assessed on the accuracy of their analaysis of the two models and the depth of the their reasoning abilities. |
